What is a travel assignment?
A travel position is a short term assignment where you will temporarily relocate to another city to work.

How long is a typical travel assignment?
Typical assignments last from 4 to 26 weeks.

Why choose a travel assignment?
Wow.  There are as many answers to this question as there are people to ask the question.  For many, it's a great opportunity to experience living and working in a new and exciting place.  For others, it's the lure of better compensation, paid housing, and the opportunity to meet new people.  For some, it is the flexibility of being able to take time off between assignments.

What are the benefits of a travel assignment?
The benefits associated with a travel assignment may vary from assignment to assignment.  First, the salary for a travel assignment is usually higher than a regular non-travel assignment.  Your living expenses (housing, utilities, etc.) are either paid for entirely or you are given a monthly allowance to spend as you see fit.  In addition, your health insurance is usually paid for and you are reimbursed for your travel expenses.  Some positions even offer bonuses either at the start of the assignment or at the end.  Please check with us and we'll be more than happy to give you the particulars on any positions of interest to you.

This is my first assignment.  What can I expect?
We have learned that each person adapts to travel positions differently.  Rest assured, as a MTX Traveling Therapist, we have a dedicated staff ready and able to help you with whatever you need; be it travel arrangements, moving tips, renting a car, or help finding a new dentist in your area.   With MTX, you can expect a great traveling experience!

Is traveling good for my resume?
Yes!  Travelers are highly sought after candidates.  The experience of working in different settings gives the therapist added flexibility to quickly adapt to new challenges and settings.

Are travel positions available for two travelers to the same city?
Yes of course.  Not all assignments have slots for more than one therapist, so be sure to discuss this option with your recruiter.

Can I travel with a friend, family member, or a pet?
Yes.  Just let us know of your plans and we will be more than happy to help you with accommodations.  Please be aware that special considerations may apply if you plan to travel to Guam or Hawaii with a pet.

What happens if I have a problem or a question while on an assignment?
Not to worry.  Call our main number (800) 918-7700 and we have an on-call support technician available to assist you in any way necessary.  This number is staffed 24x7.  Also, a good number of our assignments have multiple therapists working in the same city.  We'll introduce you to the other therapists as soon as you get in town.

How do I get to my assignment?
The answer varies by assignment and where you are currently living.  For assignments in Hawaii and Guam, we will provide you with an airline ticket.  For other positions, we recommend that you drive your car to the new assignment.  We will reimburse you for your mileage based on the current allowable rate.  Contact our HR department for the currently allowable rate.

What are my options at the end of the assignment?
Before completing an assignment, we will discuss the various options (extending your assignment, selecting another assignment, time off, or becoming a permanent employee) with you.
